With academic training in Economics, Goddard has extensive consulting experience in the Government Sector (inclusive of the Union/Labour sector), spanning a period of over 25 years. He has spent most of his working life with two of the Big 4 firms responsible for Strategic Account Management, Markets & Business Development, Client Service Lead /Account Leader, Stakeholder engagement for Local Government, including the three Metropolitan Municipalities in Gauteng. Goddard is a former member of KPMG's Global Centre of Excellence for Cities (GCEC). He was instrumental in launching the South African Chapter. GCEC is a virtual global team of Cities' experts that adopt a holistic view of looking at Cities/Municipalities. The overall key objective being the provision of member Firms with Global Thought Leadership support and best practice to enhance their clients' consulting activities.
He is an Independent Business–to-Government Consultant supporting SMEs with growth strategies within Government. At Smukeliso he leads business development in its public service and social impact solutions offering.
